About Sizzle and Bake

I’m Saijal, Mummy to three beautiful Daughters, Wife and children’s Nursery Owner.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been passionate about food! My Mum was a phenomenal cook and taught my Sister and I to cook from a young age. 

In our early twenties, my Sister and I launched Baking Girls, our own baking business, and it was from this point onwards that my love for cooking, and feeding others, really flourished.

Since having children of my own and opening my own nursery in 2016, I have become acutely aware of the differences in children’s eating habits and varying dietary requirements. With a “fussy eater” of my own, I’m all too aware of the frustrations this brings and the need to be creative, to ensure my children get the goodness they need.

I worked as the Nursery Chef for a number of years and quickly realised that children eat with their eyes and within a few seconds make up their mind about any meal. I also learnt that the more social you make mealtimes, the more likely children are to enjoy the experience and become more adventurous. Crucially, when children are involved in cooking their meals, they are far more likely to eat what they’ve made! 

Cooking classes provide the perfect starting point to encourage children to taste new foods, learn how to cook and spend a few fun hours in the company of other children.
